Movie Review - RAMBO 4

The last time we saw Rambo, he was kicking butt in Afghanistan. Since that time he has been laying low in northern Thailand, minding his business as a longboat driver on the Salween River and wrangling boa constrictors for snake fights. But when a group of human rights missionaries gets caught in the crossfire of the still-raging Burmese-Karen civil war, Rambo ultimately rises to the challenge. Accompanied by a group of mercenaries, he soon finds himself ripping out a guy's throat with his bare hands, just like the good old days. Also, just like the good old days, Rambo remains the strong, silent type, which ensures that speeches like, "When you're pushed, killin' is as easy as breathin'," are kept to a grateful minimum. The other trite characters in the Stallone- and Art Monterastelli-penned script aren't so lucky, which makes it easier not to become emotionally invested when a good portion of them are beheaded or vivisected or blown to bits by the intense, bloody violence.

It's ironically the only thing that's really alive in this otherwise dull film. From an audience point of view, you wish Stallone had instead headed in the other direction, pulling out all stops and going out a blaze of glory, taking a page out of the John McClane playbook for last year's guilty-pleasure "Die Hard" revival. Instead Stallone is intent on showing the introspective, vulnerable man behind the legend, stripping him of most of that showy '80s gear (but allowing him to keep his shirt on) and ending on a sun-drenched, silly coda during which a weary Rambo discovers that you can go home again.
She arrived in a black SUV driven by pal Sam Lutfi at 1:25, five minutes before her custody hearing was set to resume. But when she wouldn’t budge, Brit’s attorneys Anne Kiley and Tara Scott were summoned out of the court’s cafeteria down to the underground parking garage where the pop singer was safely ensconced, in order to coax her out of the car and upstairs.

What Really Happened to Britney Spears The Day Of The Custody Hearing

There, the lawyers tried in vain to reason with the 26-year-old mom of two, calling her chances of regaining visitation with sons Sean and Jayden “slim and bleak” unless she testified. Sam encouraged her as well, telling the pop wreck to “just get it over with.” When Brit couldn’t make up her mind, Adnan told her — “we could just drive around for a few minutes and figure it out.”

For the rest of the story, read after the jump! With the time approaching 1:45, our source says Kiley and Scott gave up on Britney and went back to the hearing. Spears then had Sam drive around the block and stop back at the court, where she got out of the car only to be scared right back in by the press gathered outside. As they reported the other day, Anne Kiley was spotted on a frustrating phone call during a brief recess at around 2:15. A source tells us she was talking to Britney, who was at that point enjoying a chicken caesar at the Gaucho Grill. In the courthouse, the lawyer shook her head and shrugged her shoulders — she was trying one last time to get Brit to come back, our spy says. Brit’s reply? She was “just over it” and “wasn’t going to come back, period.”

And in case you were curious, the blond in the car the other day with Brit was longtime Sam pal Chad Hardcastle. The religious South Floridian, who sources tell us Sam is using as bait to lure Brit away from new beau Adnan, is the one who convinced Brit to stop by the Little Brown Church for some godly guidance. On top of the squeaky clean image (Adnan calls him “melba toast”) our source claims that Chad is perfect for Brit, because he’s got even more money than her. I don’t know what to say about Britney…she is getting deeper and deeper in trouble.

Wills photographed 'getting down' on the dance floor

New pictures of Prince William have emerged showing the royal on the dance floor with a mystery blonde at a wedding party.

The photographs were taken at the reception for Tom Parker Bowles and Sara Buys in September 2005 – when Wills, 25, had just started dating current girlfriend Kate Middleton.

Kate, 26, was not amongst the guests and it seems Wills was keen to let his hair down.

Snaps show the Prince twirling his partner - thought to be an Australian make-up artist - and singing along to the tunes played by the DJ.

'She had the time of her life dancing with Prince Charming,' a source tells the Daily Mail.

'William clearly loved it when she told him he was a good mover on the dance floor.'

Baby food? Maple syrup? The stars really will try anything

The Baby Food Diet

Baby food is quite possibly the most bizarre fad diet ever to sweep LA, but the stars' latest drastic eating plan could actually be doing them more harm than good.

Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston and Desperate Housewives star Marcia Cross are all said to be devotees of the baby food diet, while Paris Hilton, WAG Abbey Clancy and Pamela Anderson are also believed to be fans.

But top nutritionists have warned that it's a potentially dangerous craze that could leave them completely malnourished.

Eating baby food as a diet plan has been the talk of celebland ever since super-svelte iconic menswear guru Hedi Slimane – formerly head designer at Dior – admitted to keeping his waistline enviably slim by cutting out two meals a day and replacing them with food created for newborns.

While celeb devotees of the baby food diet insist that they also eat normal meals, nutritionists aren't impressed. Carina Norris tells NOW: 'It's a gimmick. It may be a balanced diet, but it's balanced to meet the needs of babies.

'People would be better off reducing weight slowly on a properly balanced diet. Just think of the size of those tiny little jars. Yes, you'll lose weight, but if that's your lunch, you'll also end up malnourished. You won't take in enough protein and carbohydrates to keep your body ticking over.

'You could throw your overall nutrition out of kilter.'

The Maple Syrup Diet - Beyoncé

The 25-year-old singer used the syrup regime to lose almost 2st for her role in Dreamgirls.

'I lived on water, cayenne pepper and maple syrup for 14 days,' she says. 'I was just shrinking and shrinking.

'People were like: “Are you OK?” I didn't feel good.' It worked for BeyoncĂ©, but experts warn that it can interfere with the body's balance of potassium, sodium and fluids.

The One-Hour TV Diet - Jordan

The mum of three used Jason Vale's 7lbs In 7 Days diet to lose 2st of post-baby fat. Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore and Sarah Jessica Parker have also cottoned on to this diet, which bizarrely insists on no more than one hour of TV a day – presumably to avoid snacking in front of the box.

'It's tough, but it really works,' says Jordan, 29. 'I achieved some amazing results.'

The Half-Plate Diet - Kym Ryder

The Corrie star used to keep trim by leaving half of what was on her plate. However, Kim, 31, admits that it wasn't ideal for a busy life on the run. 'You're not getting what you need,' she says.

'I have a stressful life and I don't have a lot of time to energise myself. I'd get home, stick something in the microwave and think: “That'll do."'

The Vitamin Injections Diet - Geri Halliwell

She's tried everything from Atkins to bulimia to keep her weight down, but one of Geri's most controversial methods is her use of vitamin injections to combat diet fatigue.

In her 2005 TV documentary There's Something About Geri, the 35-year-old admitted that the jabs made her horny and was filmed ordering a flunky to buy her sex toys in bulk. Geri says that at the height of the Spice Girls' success, she survived each day on half a packet of noodles and a small portion of boiled carrots.

Thankfully, those days are over and the mum of one has settled into a healthy routine.

The Kids' Cutlery Diet - Liz Hurley

According to Liz, 42, eating on a nursery plate using children's cutlery is a great way of reducing food intake – it tricks her into thinking she's eating more than she really is.

Even more extreme, when Liz is attempting to lose weight (as opposed to just maintaining it) she restricts her food intake to just watercress soup, which is high in iron and calcium.

Becks will dedicate black bloom to wife Victoria Beckham

David Beckham is planning to get another tattoo in time for Valentine's Day.

Becks, 32, is reported to be considering getting inked with a black rose as a tribute to wife Posh, 33.

The design is expected to be etched on his arm.

'The rose is another tribute to Victoria,' a source tells the News Of The World. 'She'll be shocked but pleased when she finds out.'

It will be David's 12th tattoo.

Actress Charlie lost 24lb in just two months

For most women, the comfort of being in a steady relationship and having a new baby is a recipe for disaster when it comes to looking after your figure. But it has clearly been the making of Charlie Brooks.

After following a regular exercise regime and healthy diet for two months after giving birth to daughter Kiki, the 24-year-old actress lost nearly 2st. The transformation is nothing short of a miracle for Charlie, whose 5ft 5in figure once tipped the scales at 10st 9lb.

'I'd got to the gym then eat at McDonald's'
As the Welsh actress openly admits, in the past she hasn't led the healthiest of lifestyles. 'I used to join gyms, go twice, eat a McDonald's and then think: “Oh well, it's all gone wrong now,”' she admits. 'Then I'd eat more and not go back to the gym again.'

Charlie gave up a 20-a-day cigarette habit and began losing weight while training for the London Marathon in 2004. Ironically, soon after taking those encouraging steps, she discovered that she was expecting a baby.

While pregnant, she piled on the pounds thanks to a diet of curries and cakes, leaving her with 24lb of excess weight to shift.

'At first I didn't worry about my weight because I was so happy being with my baby,' she says. 'But whenever I caught sight of my stomach, I felt a bit sick.'

A fun dance routine burns fat
Determined to get back in shape, she enlisted the help of a personal trainer, Dee Thresher, who came up with an easy-to-do home exercise routine for the new mum. It included fun dance routines to help her burn fat, as well as toning exercises to sculpt and shape her figure. The results are clear to see and the regime hasn't just had an impact on her figure, but on her attitude towards her diet too.

'I think the reason I've managed to keep up the healthy eating is that I've changed my whole way of life and attitude to food,' she says. 'If I eat a takeaway now it's not the end of the world because I know I'll burn off calories.'

Stick to fish and chicken with vegetables
Still, Charlie eats a lot more healthily than in the days when she'd scoff takeaways four times a week. She now sticks to fish and roast chicken with lots of fresh vegetables and salads.

After leaving her role as evil Janine on EastEnders, she's appeared in a new medical drama Golden Hour, starred in BBC period drama, Bleak House, and released a fitness DVD, The Charlie Brooks' Before and After Workout.

It's all a far cry from her unhealthy lifestyle during her time on Walford Square. In those days, her tip for posing for photographers was: 'Belly in and make sure you haven't got a double chin.' That's something she doesn't need to worry about now.

Charlie's slimming tips
• Don't eat carbohydrates after 6pm.
• If you're going to have a Thai or Indian takeaway, cut out the rice.
• Try to make lunch the biggest meal of the day and eat lightly in the evening.
• Eat loads of fish and fill up on vegetables.
